Miss Jennie began dancing at the age of three, and began teaching in her teenage years with Ballet West. Altogether, she has been dancing and teaching in the Greater St. Louis area for four decades. In 1994, Miss Jennie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a major in dance from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. She also obtained minor degrees in business and education.
Having studied with top ballet and tap teachers in St. Louis, Miss Jennie has performance credits across a variety of genres. In addition to competitive dance, she was invited to perform on multiple occasions with the St. Louis Dance Festival. As an underclassman at Webster University, she was asked to join several Senior Choreographic project dances. Professional credits include being an invited participant in the inaugural New York Rhythm Tap Festival where she danced with and learned from legends like Gregory Hines, Brenda Buffalino, and many others.
As a professional, Miss Jennie has produced national title winning dances and has developed students who have performed at the Rose Bowl, or who have embraced dance as their career. Additional credits include Muny Student Theater in 1995/6, where Jennie was the youngest choreographer they ever hired; she has judged dance competitions for Nexstar; taught dance choreography to competitive gymnasts at Meyer’s Gymnastics; filled in for Professor Robert L. Reed in teaching master classes in rhythm tap, in addition to hosting other master classes around the St. Louis area.
Miss Jennie’s passion has always been in teaching. She continues to learn and explore with connections with dance professionals around the world. She brings that new learning to her students as a way to share not only the technique, but a true love and appreciation of dance as an art form. Miss Jennie has experience with several studios in the St. Louis area, and in every case has contributed to an advanced curriculum, and is currently working on a project to establish curriculum standards for studios. She is versed in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, musical theater, Broadway tap, rhythm tap, contemporary, and lyrical dance styles.
Miss Jennie is a dedicated wife, mother, and homeschool teacher in addition to teaching dance.
